Modification to the Office Seating National Master Standing Offer program

As you may know, Public Works and Government Services Canada has recently changed their acceptance criteria for two of the measurements included in CAN/CGSB 44.232-2002. These changes relax the acceptance criteria for the armrest setback (section 5.2.5) and the armrest height adjustment (section 5.3.3).

For the armrest setback, CAN/CGSB 44.232-2002 requires at least 150 mm. PWGSC will now accept armrest with a setback of at least 102 mm. Any arm that qualified previously will still qualify with this change. Arms that previously had too small a setback, either because of positioning or length, might now qualify for the NMSO program.

The CAN/CGSB-44.232-2002 armrest height adjustment requirement is to include at least 50 mm and the complete range of 190 mm to 240 mm. PWGSC relaxes this requirement by requiring only a part of the range from 190 mm to 240 mm. A minimum of 50 mm of height adjustment is still required. The requirement for the increment remains the same (maximum of 13 mm). Arms that previously qualified for the NMSO will automatically comply with this requirement. Arms that did not comply to the previous requirement might find a place within these less strict guidelines.
