Our testing services
Protective Packaging
Micom Laboratories Inc. offers protective packaging performance testing. Our test laboratory is recognized by many organisations including ISTA, NCC and Transport Canada. We can validate your protective packaging by simulating accurately your shipping environment. We can also test our pack-out materials to insure they provide you with the physical characteristics you need. Our 11 000 square feet laboratory houses state-of-the-art test equipment that will get you the answers you need. We are a truly third party laboratory; we do not sell any packaging materials. With over 35 years of cumulative experience with packaging materials testing our experts will be happy to help you put test plans together and discuss your shipping problems with you.
Protective Packaging Testing
Micom Laboratories Inc. offers protective packaging test services according to all ISTA, and NMFTA standards including the popular ISTA 3A and 4AB and ASTM D-4169. If your products are temperature sensitive (food, drugs, vaccines) we can also thermally challenge your packaging to demonstrate its performance by testing it to ASTM D-3103 or equivalent in our climatic chambers equipped with real time continuous temperature computer data acquisition with up to 256 temperature probes simultaneously. All of our protective packaging testing equipment is sized to be able to accommodate at least a full pallet load and our climatic chambers can hold up to 6 pallets simultaneously.
Protective packaging testing can be a great cost saving investment. All the money you have invested in design, assembly and selling your products is lost if your product does not survive its shipping and handling environment. Likewise, protective packaging testing can be also used to reduce your packaging costs. Our experts will be happy to discuss your needs and also review the end results with you to address failures and how to improve your packaging.
Protective Packaging Material
We also offer a lot of material tests such as tensile strength, flexural strength, foam cushioning properties (ASTM D-3574) and other tests that complement the services we offer for protective packaging testing. Finally we can also create custom test methods to address your more specific needs for your protective packaging.
