ASTM D3451 standard now offered at Micom Laboratories

Micom Laboratories is pleased to announce that it now offers the ASTM D3451 standard as part of its coating testing and paint testing services. This method provides a classification of tests that are at the disposal for the assessment numerous properties of coating powders and powder coatings. Lastly, there is no precedence of test protocols that is established for the situation that there is more than one test that can satisfy the evaluation of the targeted objective.

ASTM D3451 test

The goal of ASTM D3451 is to relay information for the selection of an appropriate method for the assessment of the desired attribute of coating powders or powder coatings. Indeed, it is through table 1 of the present practice that it is possible to have a visual repertoire of tests protocols available for evaluating properties of the sample. Also, this standard provides a brief explanation of the importance and role of the selected attribute. Unfortunately, this practice does not cover methods that are developed for the applications to pipes or reinforced steel bars. One thing to keep in mind is that in spite of all the information supplied by this guide, the latter cannot substitute the experience of a professional because its purpose is to instruct and aid in the test selection. For instance, in the event that multiple standards are found suitable for the appraisal of an attribute, there is no precedence of methods that is provided by this practice. Thus, it is necessary to rely on one’s knowledge and experience in order to opt for the right test protocol in that circumstance.

Micom offers polymer testing services for a wide selection of material and products. For more information about the ASTM D3451 test, we invite you to contact our material testing laboratory today. It will be our pleasure to answer your questions about either of those tests.
