Laboratory Assistant Technician
Baie-d’Urfé (West of Montreal), Full-time
Micom Laboratories is a materials testing laboratory located in Baie-D’Urfé, in the western part of Montreal. We are currently seeking a full-time laboratory assistant technician to join our team. To be considered for this position, you must be a Canadian citizen or at least hold a valid working permit in Canada.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This position involves testing surface finishes (gloss, color, adhesion, …), salt spray exposure, and UV exposure on raw materials or finished products. More specifically, tasks include:
- Receiving, identifying, and preparing samples.
- Measuring color and calibrating the colorimeter according to ASTM D2244.
- Measuring gloss and calibrating the gloss meter according to ASTM D523.
- Measuring hardness, weight, dimensions, and adhesion.
- Measuring pH and calibrating the pH meter.
- Operating and verifying a salt spray chamber in accordance with ASTM B117.
- Using a xenon arc apparatus according to ASTM G155.
- Monitoring laboratory temperature and humidity.
- Entering data into the database.
- Participating in audits as a test technician for laboratory accreditation.
QUALIFICATIONS
For this position, we’re looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- College diploma (DEC) in natural sciences, technical science, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in French and English.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word).
- Ability to multitask effectively, managing multiple samples simultaneously.
- Ability to manage one’s own schedule.

Laboratory Technician
Baie d’Urfé (West of Montreal), Full-time
Micom Laboratories is a materials testing laboratory located in Baie-D’Urfé, in the western part of Montreal. We are currently seeking a full-time physical testing laboratory technician to join our team.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be responsible for conducting various mechanical resistance tests (tension, compression, etc.), physical tests, and accelerated aging tests (corrosion, UV, etc.). The candidate will also be required to write test reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
For this position, we’re looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Minimum DEC in science
- 1-3 years of experience in physical testing or equivalent experience
- Experience with a universal testing system (Instron) is preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Proficiency in English is required
- Spoken French is an asset but not essential
WE OFFER
- Full-time, 40-hour daytime position, Monday to Friday
- Flexible schedule for better work-life balance.
- Salary is $18.00 to $24.00/hour, depending on experience
