Package Testing

Micom Laboratories Inc. is an ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) and NCC (National Classification Committee) approved laboratory for package testing. We are also recognized by Transport Canada as a laboratory for the Hazardous Materials Regulation (Hazmat) testing requirements. We are also a major source of package testing for cold chain qualification for the Pharmaceutical and food industry. Privately owned, our 11 000 square feet laboratory offers strictly third party package testing services; we do not sell any packaging materials. With over 35 years of cumulative experience with packaging materials testing our experts will be happy to help you put your test plans together, if needed, including ISTA's most advanced standard; ISTA 4AB.

Package testing services

Micom Laboratories Inc. offers Package testing services according to all ISTA, ASTM and NMFTA standards including the popular ISTA 3A and 4AB. We can also test to ASTM D4169 and the Canadian Hazardous Materials Regulation (UN boxes). All of our equipment is sized to be able to accommodate a full pallet load.

Beyond package testing

We can also help you beyond your package testing needs; we can work with you to create your own internal standards and then test according to them. This can be done by instrumenting your packages with data loggers and analyze different shipping routes to establish your product's typical shipping profile. We can then recreate these stresses in our lab to help you solve your problems in a timely and scientific way. This helps a great deal by taking the "guess" out of the equation and avoiding multiple iterations of changes due to failures.

Package testing laboratory

When people get involved in package testing their investigations sometimes make them question the properties of some packaging materials. This is where we can help you. Be it foam, corrugate, bubble wrap or gel, we can do a wide spectrum of material tests such as tensile strength, flexural strength, freezing point and others that will give you the answers you need to get where you need to go.
